Well I have been thinking of different parts that we don't have that we could definitely use so I came up with this idea to be able to mount the battery in a lower position (almost on the subframe) so that it frees up room in your engine bay. This will only work if you have removed the stock EVAP canister. This will also be a great way to get rid of your rusted out nasty looking stock tray and tie downs.

It is made out of 1/8" Cold Roll Steel. I had my cousin weld it in for me since I'm not that good. The welds are going to be cleaned up with a dremel yet since they look pretty nasty. There will be a nice tie down welded up that will be easily removable and I have to drill the mounting holes yet. I will update it when I get more done. It will be powdercoated black for the finished product. Let me know what you guys think.

Got it done tonight but the tie down bar hits the brake line so I think I'm going to go with the original plan of having the tie down come off of the support braces but I need to figure something out so the bar is not so close to the terminals, I have a few ideas but let me know what you guys think!

Lol well the small battery trays would be easy to make :p A lot of people like to keep their Optima's and other similar big batteries so I'm trying to be able to fit all of them. Where does yours bolt to?

The strut tower and firewall. Sits in the same place that yours does, right where the emissions used to be.

Got a pic of that mounted Bobby? I'm thinking about running a smaller battery in my 2g and I like that design.
Justin- Yours looks good, I would try to make the hold down more like in your model, but either have the rods bolt up with slots for adjustability or just have it go over the top.

I'm definitely changing it to how I had it originally planned. It will work a lot better, I had just gotten worried with the tie down hitting the terminals so I moved it even though I should have kept it! Back to the drawing boards.
